Terms of service

Last updated 6 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use QR Island (qrisland.com), including when you buy something. We have tried to keep them short and plain. If anything is unclear, ask us using the contact details at the bottom of this page.

Who we are

QR Island is run by AVERKO AI, a business name registered in Barbados with the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office (registration number 92961). Our address is Bridgetown, Barbados. “We” and “us” means that business. “You” means the person using QR Island, or the business you use it for.

Using QR Island

You can make QR codes for free, with no account. Free codes are made in your browser and never expire. You may use any code you make, free or paid, for personal or business purposes, as long as you follow these terms and the acceptable use rules.

To buy anything you must be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian’s permission. QR Island is not aimed at children.

What we sell

  • Island pack (one-time): three things made from what you designed.
    • Your island picture in print sizes, with no QR Island mark: Large print (3600 × 2700 px, 12 × 9 in), a portrait Poster (5400 × 7200 px, 18 × 24 in) and a Wide poster (6000 × 4500 px, 20 × 15 in), at 300 dpi, from the view and backdrop you chose. Your browser draws the island picture when you check out and sends it with your order; the Large print and the Wide poster are made from it. It draws the Poster’s own upright picture right after payment, before the other styles of a sign pack and the island video (or later, from your purchase link on the same device). If your device can’t draw a poster at full size, that file is enlarged from a smaller picture of the same view. Island packs bought before the portrait Poster have the Large print and the Wide poster only.
    • Your code as print files: the code you designed, with your logo, module shape, corner eyes and colours, plus an optional gradient and call-to-action frame. You get a print-ready PNG (4096 px, set to print at about 1200 dpi), an SVG, and a PDF print sheet on US Letter or A4 showing the code at several sizes from its smallest safe size up, with crop marks.
    • An island video: a 12-second vertical video (1080 × 1920 px, MP4) of your island turning once round, then ending on your code with a short line, ready to scan, with no mark on it. Your browser makes it just after payment, from the island you designed, and uploads it to your order. Making it needs a browser that can encode video (a recent Chrome, Safari or Edge).
    It includes one free restyle within 7 days of payment: from your purchase link you can restyle the island once (its world, backdrop, light, code style or logo) and get fresh files, which replace your current Island pack files, so keep copies of any you want. What the code holds can’t be changed by a restyle, and a restyle not used within the 7 days ends. After that, a new look is a new Island pack.
  • Editable code (a dynamic QR code, as a yearly subscription): a styled code that encodes a short link on our site (qrisland.com/r/…). The short link forwards to a web address that you can change at any time, and you can see private daily scan counts. It includes the Island pack, with the short link on the island and in the code files. Editable codes are for web links only. It renews every year until you cancel (see Editable codes).
  • Island sign pack (an add-on to an Island pack or an Editable code), in each of four styles (Postcard, Bold band, Cut-out and Classic): a PDF on US Letter or A4 with a poster, two flyers (cut one sheet in half), a folding table tent, four table cards, eight pocket cards and six round stickers, plus PNG pictures for screens: a story (1080 × 1920 px), a square post (1080 × 1080 px) and a slide for a TV or screen (1920 × 1080 px); for a Wi‑Fi code, only the slide. You pick the style you preview and test-print before you pay; your browser makes the other styles from the same island right after payment, after your Poster’s picture and before the island video (or later, from your purchase link on the same device). A style whose pieces can’t print your words or your code at a readable size is left out, and the studio tells you which before you pay. The words take one of three colours sampled from your island. For a Wi‑Fi code you can also choose four Wi‑Fi cards that print the network name and password as text. Pocket cards and stickers are included only when your code can be printed at its minimum size on them, so a very long code may leave them out. Each piece shows your island with your code in its courtyard and carries one code to scan: on any printed piece it can be the island itself, where the island prints large enough and the code is short enough for phones to read it (each printed piece is checked at its own size before delivery and gets a flat code if it doesn’t read, and you can choose a flat code on every piece); every other piece pairs a picture of your island with a flat code beside it. Each PDF has crop marks, with bleed where a picture runs to the edge, for a print shop. The sign’s own headline takes the place of a call-to-action frame. Sign packs bought before 4 October 2026 have a poster, a table tent and four cards; sign packs bought before every pack included every style come in the one style picked.

Free extras include your code as PNG or SVG, in your style and with your logo, a print sheet laid out in your browser, and a picture of your 3D island at screen size (1600 × 1200 px), for posts and websites. Free extras are made in your browser. Free files leave out the paid gradient and frame, and the free island picture and styled code may carry a small “Made with QR Island” mark. The island’s print sizes come only with the Island pack.

Prices and payment

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle sells our products on behalf of AVERKO AI, takes your payment, handles tax, issues your receipt, and provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns about payments (such as refunds and billing questions). Paddle’s Buyer Terms and checkout buyer terms apply to your payment, alongside these terms, which cover the products and the service.

Prices are shown before you pay, in US dollars. They include any sales tax, such as VAT or GST, so you pay exactly the price shown, and we do not add card fees on top. Your bank may add its own foreign-transaction or currency-conversion fee.

You pay in Paddle’s secure checkout, which opens over our page. We never see your card number. The charge appears on your statement as PADDLE.NET* followed by our name.

Island packs and sign packs are paid once. An Editable code is a yearly subscription that renews automatically at the price shown when you buy it, until you cancel (see Editable codes). Nothing else is ever charged again.

A purchase is complete when Paddle confirms the payment. If confirmation is delayed, we email your link as soon as it arrives. We may cancel and fully refund an order if the price was shown in error, or if the order breaks these terms. You may not buy from us if the law, or Paddle’s rules, prevent us or Paddle from dealing with you (for example because of international sanctions).

Delivery

Everything we sell is digital, and nothing is shipped. Files are ready immediately after payment on the confirmation screen, and we email you the same private link. The Poster’s picture, the other styles of a sign pack and the island video are made in your browser just after payment, in that order, and each joins your files when it is ready. You choose US Letter or A4 when you download a PDF.

Island pack download links stay active for the period shown at purchase (normally 90 days). An Editable code’s files stay available while the code is active and during its grace period. After that the files are deleted for your privacy, so please save them. The refunds & delivery policy explains what to do if something goes wrong.

There are no customer accounts. The private link in your receipt email (also remembered in the browser you bought with) is the key to your files and, for an Editable code, to changing where it points. Anyone who has the link can use it, so keep it private. If you lose it, or think someone else has it, contact us from the email address you paid with. We can send a new link to that address and switch the old one off.

Editable codes

  • An Editable code is a yearly subscription. It starts when you pay and renews automatically every year, at the price shown when you bought it, until you cancel. Paddle charges the payment method you used. If the price ever changes, we tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal, and you can cancel before it.
  • Each paid year (the first year and each renewal) includes one island refresh: from your manage link you can restyle the island once and get a fresh Island pack. The new files replace your current Island pack files, so keep copies of any you want. Your short link, where it points and your printed codes don’t change. An unused refresh doesn’t carry over to the next year, and a code in its grace period or lapsed can’t be restyled until it is renewed.
  • We email the address you paid with about 30 days before each renewal, with the date and the price.
  • Cancel any time from your manage link (it is in your receipt email): choose Cancel auto-renew. Nothing more is charged, and the code keeps working until the end of the year you have paid for. Until then you can turn auto-renew back on. You can also update your card there; Paddle emails your receipts.
  • If a renewal payment fails, Paddle tries again for a short while; update your card from your manage link. If it still can’t be paid, the subscription ends.
  • When a subscription ends (cancelled or unpaid), the code keeps forwarding for a 14-day grace period after the paid year. After that, scanning shows a page saying the code needs renewing. Starting a new yearly subscription from your manage link switches the same printed code back on. The print files stay downloadable while the code is active and during the grace period; a new subscription after that restores the link but not the files.
  • Destinations must be web addresses (http or https). They can’t be IP addresses, contain a user name or password, point back to QR Island, or use a site on our blocked list, and there is a daily limit on changes. We email you when the destination changes.
  • We count scans as daily totals only, never who scanned. You can see the last 30 days in your manage link.
  • We aim to keep short links working around the clock, but we can’t promise uninterrupted service: maintenance or an outage can briefly stop forwarding.
  • If we ever stop offering Editable codes, we will email you at least 60 days before, stop your subscription so it isn’t charged again, and refund the unused part of your paid year.

Acceptable use

Don’t use QR Island (free codes, Island packs, logos, sign packs or Editable codes) to make, show or point to:

  • phishing, scams, or fake sign-in or payment pages, or anything that tricks people into giving personal or financial details;
  • malware, unwanted software or automatic downloads;
  • anything unlawful in Barbados or where the code is used;
  • sexual content involving minors (we report it to the authorities), or content that promotes violence, terrorism, harassment or hatred;
  • content that pretends to be another person, business, brand or public body, or a logo you don’t have the right to use;
  • material that infringes someone’s copyright, trademark or other rights;
  • spam, or chains of redirects or link shorteners that hide where a code really goes.

Also, don’t try to guess other people’s codes or manage links, get around our limits or blocked list, or overload, probe or scrape the service.

We check destinations and may review Editable codes. If something breaks these rules, or a credible report suggests it might, we may refuse an order, block a destination, or disable an Editable code straight away to protect the people who scan it. We will email you to say why, unless the law or someone’s safety prevents it, and you can reply to ask us to review the decision. If we disabled a code by mistake, we switch it back on and make up for the time it was off. Codes disabled for breaking these rules are not refunded. Serious or repeated misuse means we can stop serving you, and we report unlawful content where the law requires.

Reporting a code or content

If a code made with QR Island (for example a short link starting qrisland.com/r/) leads somewhere harmful, or something made here infringes your rights, email support@qrisland.com. Include the short link or a photo of the code, where you saw it, and what is wrong. We look at phishing and malware reports first.

For a copyright or trademark complaint, also tell us who you are, which work or mark is affected, and confirm that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised and that your notice is accurate. We may pass your notice to the code’s owner. If your code was disabled after a complaint and you believe it was a mistake, reply with your explanation and we will review it.

Your content

You keep all rights in the text, links, logos and wording you add. You allow us to store and use them only to make and deliver your codes and files and to run your Editable code; the privacy policy explains how long we keep them. You confirm that you have the right to use any logo or content you upload. You are responsible for what your codes contain and where they point, and for any claims that arise from them.

Our content

QR Island’s software, design, 3D worlds and artwork belong to us or the people we license them from. You may use the codes, files, island pictures and sign packs you make here, free or paid, for your own personal or business purposes, including printing and sharing them. Please don’t sell the island artwork on its own, present it as your own artwork, or copy the site or its worlds. Regional worlds are artistic interpretations.

Scanning and printing

We check that the code in every Island pack and Editable code scans before you pay, and decode every paid code file on our server before delivery. Real-world scanning also depends on print size, contrast, paper, lighting and the phone used.

Every code has a smallest safe printed width. It depends on how much the code holds and on its module shape: about 2 cm for a short link, around 5 cm for a full contact card, and more for long links or airy shapes such as dots, stars or hearts. We show it in the studio’s size hint and on the print sheets. Print at 100% (“Actual size”), keep the white border, and test with two phones before printing many. Your colours are used exactly as you pick them, on screen and in every file and print sheet. When they are light, or the code is lighter than its background, the studio, checkout and print sheets warn you and suggest a stronger colour; the choice is yours. Only a design that phones can’t read at all is held back until you change it. The 3D island and island pictures are decorative and are not meant for scanning. Our promise for codes that won’t scan is in the refunds & delivery policy.

Other websites

Codes can lead to websites and apps we don’t control, including the destinations people choose for Editable codes. We are not responsible for their content, and whoever chooses a code’s destination is responsible for it.

Refunds

See the refund & delivery policy.

Liability

We build QR Island with care, but the free service is provided as it is, without a promise that it will always be available or free of errors.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be excluded (in Barbados, including the Consumer Guarantees Act), or our liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, business or revenue. That includes losses from a print run that wasn’t test-scanned first, an Editable code that lapsed or was disabled under these terms, or another website. Our total liability for any purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it (for an Editable code, the amount paid for its current year).

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the service or the law changes. The date at the top shows the current version, and it applies from that date. A change does not take away anything you have already paid for. For an Editable code, the terms you agreed to keep applying until the end of the year you have paid for, unless a change is needed by law or to stop abuse; we email owners of Editable codes about important changes before their next renewal, so they can cancel if they don’t agree.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Barbados, and the courts of Barbados can hear any dispute. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you keep the protection of the consumer laws where you live that can’t be excluded. Please contact us first: most problems are quicker to sort out by email.

You accept these terms when you pay. Your receipt email is your record of the purchase, and you can save or print this page at any time.
